Previous Questions

Question: My cat was in July of 2001 at your vaccination clinic. She recently was bitten by another animal (in 2004), and I am concerned about Rabies. How long is a Rabies vaccine effective and how often should I have my pets revaccinated?

Answer: We give the one year vaccine for several reasons - most importantly, we see fewer reactions to the one year vaccine. In addition, when pet owners are only required to get the rabies vaccine once every three years, many times other important health checkups and vaccinations are neglected and we are encouraging good, responsible pet ownership.

Question: I have a 3 month old female puppy, when is the best time to have her spayed?

Answer: The best time to spay or neuter a puppy or kitten is before 6 months of age to avoid an accidental pregnancy.

Question: I have had a terrible time controlling fleas on my dog this summer and have used all kinds of Sprays, Collars, Powders and Spot-On type products. What do you recommend for flea control?

Answer: The best flea control on today's market is Advantage, a spot-on type product produced by Bayer Corporation. It is available only through Veterinarians.

Question: My dog itches his skin constantly and I never see fleas on him. What could be the problem?

Answer: Itchy skin can have many different causes and the treatments are different depending upon the cause. A Veterinarian is trained to Diagnose the various causes for itchy skin and prescribe appropriate treatment.
